Jocelyn James has been working as an Illustrator since she got her first digital tablet at age 14. She grew up immersed in the vibrant arts, music, and culture of the Deep South.

She enjoys exploring the intersecting spaces between the familiar and the fantastical, and she cites Afrofuturism, African American folktales, and 1980s fantasy films as deeply influential to her work.

When she’s not deep into news research or rearranging furniture, she loves to watch movies, listen to audio dramas, and play with her cat. James holds a BA in Advertising from the University of Georgia.
