Jocelyn James has been working as a Digital Media Specialist for over six years and as an Illustrator for over 10. Born in the state of Georgia, she is constantly inspired by the vibrant environments, music, and culture of the Southeastern U.S. 

She enjoys exploring the intersecting spaces between the familiar and the fantastical, and she cites Afrofuturistic works, African American folktales, and 1980s high fantasy films as strong, creative influences.

When she’s not deep into news research or updating a breaking story, she loves to watch movies, listen to audio dramas, and play with her cat, Kravitz.

James holds a BA in Advertising from the University of Georgia. She also has concentrated study in Communications,
