Jocelyn James has been working as a Digital Designer and Illustrator for over 10 years and a Journalist for over 4. She attributes her creativity and determination to her African American heritage and the vibrant environments, music, and culture of the Southeastern U.S.
She enjoys exploring the intersecting spaces between the familiar and the fantastical and she cites Afrofuturistic works, African American folktales, and 1980s high fantasy films as strong, creative influences.
When she’s not deep into news research or updating a breaking story, she loves to watch movies, listen to audio dramas, and play with her cat, Kravitz.
James holds a BA in Advertising from the University of Georgia. She
